Finding Computer-Related Information

There are printed materials in the Library loaded with computer information. In the Library look for books like Microsoft Encyclopedia of Networking (REF 004.62 T85 2000), PC Hardware in a Nutshell (004.16 T56 2000), and Fundamentals of Network Security (004.62 C36 2001). Additional books can be found in the general stacks from call numbers 004-007.

There are also three databases on the Internet. Some databases require passwords. You must be a student or instructor at Mildred Elley to access these. Contact a librarian by either calling 786-0855 ext. 230 or emailing library@mildred-elley.edu.
1. The first place to look is Gale's Expanded Academic ASAP. Type in the Password. Click on “Proceed.” Enter the search terms you are looking for into the text boxes. If you need help searching this database please read Help using Gale or get the handout "Using Gale's Expanded Academic Index" in the literature racks outside the library.an.

2. The second place to go is EBSCO through the Colonie Public Library.
Scroll down the page and click on:
Type in the password. Click on “All EBSCO Databases.” This is the top link. Click in the textboxes next to the following databases to select them: (NOTE: some of them may already be selected.)

Click “Enter.” Before you type in the search term click in the “Full Text” checkbox. Enter the search term and click on “Search.”

3. The third place to look for business information is the IT Resources Guide from Mildred Elley.
