Help Available

The library is staffed with professionally trained librarians during all hours of operations.   They specialize in doing research and finding information.  The librarians can help you to use online and print resources, including the library’s online catalog, online databases, and e-books.

Assistance is available during regular library hours.  Students who would like in-depth research assistance are encouraged to schedule an appointment with a librarian.  Contact information for each branch is available on the Contact Us page on the library website.

While we are happy to help students with research assistance, librarians are unable provide tutoring, test proctoring, copy services, assistance with financial aid forms and/or applications, or babysitting.

Borrowing

Regular books circulate for two weeks at a time.  Patrons may check out up to three books at a time.

Reference books, text books, DVDs, journals, newspapers, and magazines do not circulate.

A photo ID is required in order to check out library materials.

Overdues

The library prints and distributes overdue notices, but it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that borrowed books are returned.

When materials are overdue, borrowing privileges are suspended.

Computer, Printers, and Copiers

Library computers are for academic use only and are available to solely to currently enrolled Mildred Elley students.

Please limit printing to that which is essential to your schoolwork.

Hint: Only click ‘Print’ once; if pages do not immediately come out, wait a few minutes; sometimes there is a queue of papers waiting to print. Also verify that you are printing to the appropriate library printer.

Librarians may offer assistance with passwords for SONIS Web or Network log-ins.  For trouble with e-mail passwords, students must see the IT staff.

Students must present photo ID in order to obtain passwords or any information from SONIS Web.

Be sure to log off of the computer before leaving the library.

There is a copy machine in the library for student use; copies are $0.15.

Library Etiquette

Out of courtesy for others, please turn cell phone ringers to vibrate and take cell phone conversations into the student lounge.

No food or drink is permitted in the library.

Library users who are being disruptive will be asked to leave.

Children

For their safety, children are not permitted to be in the library unattended at any time.
